CARING FOR YOUR ENCAUSTIC:

Encaustic artwork is made from beeswax and Damar Resin and is one of the most archival mediums available. Like any artwork, hang it away from direct sunlight and heating. Store your art at a regular room temperature, avoiding extreme hot or cold temperatures.

Occasionally, a bloom appears on the surface and this is a natural part of the curing process that can take about 18 months. This can be taken care of by gently buffing with a soft rag (an old, lint-free cotton tee shirt) or you can also use the heel of your hand to buff it gently to a shine. If you have any questions or concerns you can always contact me and I will walk you through the process.

Never lean encaustic art against a wall or on any artwork or you could damage the surface or the edges.

When transporting encaustic art, it's best to consult with a professional art handler. Do not leave it in a hot vehicle. If the painting is exposed to heat, bring it into an air-conditioned space for about 30 minute and lay it flat, and do not touch the surface.

If you decide to have your art framed, please consult with a professional framer familiar with encaustic artwork.
